SMOKE & HEAT EXHAUST VENTILATION SYSTEMS

National Manufacturers have informed their national associations about their CE-marked NSHEV products. EUROLUX has collected this information and published it in the following list.

Contact with the national association or manufacturer is very simple: please use the link shown in the list.

For installation at site it is very important to know that the NSHEV is certificated for the special building situation (e.g.: assembly in walls or roofs, slope of the roof, necessary class for wind- or snow-loads, tested situation of the aerodynamic free area).

The certificated approximation is described in the certification report and in EN 12101-2.

Individual rooflights

Individual rooflights may be supplied with polycarbonate, glass or acrylic glazing, in a variety of grades including clear, opal, tinted and solar control.

  • round
  • square
  • rectangular

These may be supplied complete with upstands manufactured from metal, thermoplastics, GRP or wood. Spherical and prismoidal upstand designs are also available.

Special designs of polygonal rooflights can also be supplied, e. g.:

  • triangular or
  • octagonal

According to the need and amount the manufacturers are able to produce special
constructions according to customer demands. So the architectural freedom is hardly limited.

CE-certification according EN 12101-2

When today building products with a CE marking are brought into market, they must apply the requirements of the relevant harmonized European standards – and have to be certified.

In case of natural smoke and heat ventilation systems (NSHEVS) the national regulations determine that the accordance with EN 12101-2 is required (declaration of conformity). Conformance has to be prove by certification. This consists of an initial type test (ITT) and a factory owned production control (FPC). Annex ZA of the standard contains exact data which characteristics of NSHEVS are to be tested in the certification procedure.

Initial Type Test (ITT)

For initial type test partial tests have to be carried out in the following order for CE certification:

  1. Determination of aerodynamic free area
  2. Test of reliability
  3. Test for opening under load (snow load)
  4. Test for low ambient temperature
  5. Test of stability against wind load
  6. Test of heat exposure
Test 2: Reliabity (Re) Test 3: Opening under load (SL) Test 4: Low ambient temperature (T) Test 5: Wind load (WL) Test 6: Heat Exposure (B)

SL 250 T -15 °C
SL 500 T -25 °C
SL 1.000

Every partial test must be documented in a test report. An initial type test also has to be carried out always, when changes on the NSHEVS influence the characteristics essentially.

Factory Production Control (FPC)

Factory owned production control has to be carried out, documented and maintained by the manufacturer or distributor. It has to be so extensive that conformity of the product is apparent and can be controlled, proved and evaluated by neutral test bodies regularly. It is sufficient for example to operate a factory owned production control according to EN ISO 9001.

To uphold the reached level of safety in the member states the national head organisations propose as a minimum to claim the test classes for NSHEVS according EN 12101-2 listed in table 3:
